CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE

Greetings to our Global Griffin Tribe

These are the first words I will pen as the incoming Chairman of the Westville Old Boys Association (WOBA), which we can proudly say, has become one of the most established Old Boy’s associations in KZN. It is a daunting honour and privilege to step into this role after it has been so incredibly well led by my old school mate, Dieter Kriese. Dieter managed to get the pass away to me after carrying it for so long.

I promise to protect the ball, my buddy!

We, the committee, believe that WOBA is not just a loose collective of past pupils but that it is a champion tribe of brothers, who in our years of walking these halls and treading these corridors and fields, no matter if it was 70 years ago or one year ago, have all forged memories, friendships and connections that have enriched our lives immeasurably. We believe that this ‘damn fine institution’ is more than just a mere place of learning but has now become one of the finest hubs of excellence in the country and is a place that gives hope and stability to a community, a province and a nation by nurturing, fueling and sending out significant young South African leaders into every sphere. The impact of this cannot be underestimated, and we as Griffins all get to participate in this journey and celebrate our collective successes.

It is this legacy, past and present, that we are hoping you as Old Boys will recognize, adopt, and support. It is no secret that the schools that continue to grow and do well are those that have a strong and engaged Old Boy’s association, and as a brotherhood of size and significance, we have the remarkable ability to continue the success story of this incredible place.

I am looking forward to walking alongside you as we journey on and create new stories together.
